Nova Safety Alert
Watchdog group warning for the dangers of novas in society. Led by
the lawyer Edward Greene, who have among other things warned neighbours
to novas about insurance risks and accused Lane Mofetta for being a
radiation hazard (the atomic energy commission did not issue any judgement
on whether she should be regulated as a nuclear power source in interstate
traffic).
European Environment Network
European environmentlist group on the more radical side. Have criticised
novas as dangers to the environment and people. Right now their main
target is Taliyah, for disrupting the natural weather of the north sea
and hence the climate of southern Scandinavia.
The Human Earth
Anti nova organisation, runs the site www.human.org. Claims the Earth belongs to humans,
and novas are not human – what they are is a typical flame topic among
the conspiracy theorists, fundamentalists, right wing extremists and
general bigots frequenting the site. But behind the scenes there is
a more effective cell structure using modern information technology
and word-of-SMS to keep track of novas and try to teach them a lesson.
Solstice of the Corporation
Rock group, on their way to become a major international group. Originally
from California, they have their own new style of punk-grunge-synth
with surreal texts and vaguely system-critical message.
Transgenesis Corporation
Biotechnology firm involved in nova research. Their main interest is
how novas become more resilient to damage than ordinary humans and whether
the effect can be used in medications for baselines. Their CEO, Natasha
J. Keer, is a world-renowned biotech industrialist and has gathered
a star team of researchers. So far they have not yet come up with anything
useful except to identify that novas are apparently normal humans except
for their powers.
Transgenesis has a contract with DHS and is under much pressure to
discover anything truly useful to keep the contract. Keer would never
do anything illegal or unethical, but clearly some radical new strategies
are needed. Her approach is to scout the third world for novas to recruit
for study, looking especially for novas with powers that enable them
to make the breakthrough – new forms of perception, extreme intelligence,
even the elusive “nova detection power”.
