Janis Ivalds was a major in the Latvian army when he quietly erupted.
Over a span of several weeks 2003 he became better, faster, stronger until
his military skills were uncanny and could no longer be attributed to
determined training. He soon became a Latvian celebrity and the star of
LatMIL, the Latvian military nova task force located in Riga.
Later developments: While initially cautious about working together with
other EU novas (and openly critical of their lack of discipline), he became
the Team Executive Officer of the most active ENAReST team. He led practically
all important operations.
Powers: Col. Ivalds is stronger, faster and more resilient than normal
humans. Compared to most novas he is not powerful, but the combination
as well as his long military training makes him an exceptionally deadly
soldier. He is quite able to repeatedly hit a small target with a gun
in a darkened room or crush a skull with his fist.
Namn: Janis "tigersclaw" Ivalds
Age: 35
Marital status: Married to Ieva Ivalds, no children.
Birthday (*) : 1970-02-26
Rank: Major
We are not sure when the subject first felt his "powers".
According to interviews he "gradually experienced" an
augmentation of his strength, dexterity and endurance. Many Novas
have shown very spectacular abilities such as controlling weather
(See LatMil-006-58114-2517-Thalia for reference) and other displays.
The subject seem to have experienced no such behaviours, though
this might change in the future.
Personal assessment of Janis Ivalds conducted by Dr. Eriks Zalitis
of the Latvian psychologial association.
A strong believer in order and determination, Major Janis Ivalds
was never an underachiever. He tends to see things in black and
white, discarding everything he cannot fit to either side as "uninteresting".
In combat he shows a remarkable mental stability and precision.
If stress finally gets to him, he gets locked in the current structures
and refuses to change anything.
While he seems to have a reasonably high IQ, what is remarkable
is his "get it done" mentality. It has been said that
he tends to solve all problems by guns and fists. While that may
seem like an oversimplification, he clearly displays a "take
it or leave it"-mentality.
In his own words:
- "I'm a simple man ... a soldier and an officer. I don't
care what my men do when their not on duty, as long as it doesn't
hurt anyone or bring disgrace to the army. When they're under
my command I expect them to perform their best. They know, and
I know that failure to always do your very best will kill us all.
I think we must be a strong group, or we will fail one by one."
Strengths:
Logical thinker and a determined achiever. "Failure is not
an option" as a mindset. Brave and always ready to fight.
Good leader and strategical planner.
Weakness:
"One track mind". While fairly tolerant of others, he
clearly dislikes rebellious natures and non-conformist people.
He tends to use force (military or threat) to solve every problem.
A gun nut.
