Johan was the son of a successful construction engineer (now running his own company) and already as a kid felt right at home on building sites. During his studies to become a building engineer himself he and some of his fraternity friends ended up in a serious traffic accident. Johan escaped by simply vanishing from the car as it crashed into a lorry. He soon discovered that he was able to teleport, and that his already bulky and tough body could become steel. Dubbed “Swedish Steel” by the media at home he became a celebrity, studied by the defence research institute and often sent as an envoy to ENA.

Later developments: Johan married Rajiv Vaz to give him a Swedish citizenship, something which made the pair the darlings of the gay rights movement (and irritated Johan’s father to no end). He used his teleportation powers together with Rajiv and TalAyeh to lauch satellites, becoming the backbone of a very successful nova-based Swedish-British space company. He also played at being war journalist or moving TalAyeh to wherever in the world she was needed, often causing much grief for the Swedish foreign office. Eventually he divorced Rajiv and married Maria Gonzales Villanuova, whom he had saved shortly after her eruption.

Shortly after Dr Operov’s death Johan underwent a secondary eruption, becoming fully aware of his nature. He began to develop into an increasingly inhuman being while trying to ignore what he now knew without doubt. Eventually, after wrecking a Russian submarine, he gave up and decided to give humanity some time by third erupting and delaying the spider attack he was convinced was coming.

Powers: Johan was able to quantum teleport interplanetary distances as well as become living metal. Later he developed the ability to extend his body "field" to the surroundings, bringing them with him in a teleportation or converting them to metal. He also became able to absorb energy from the surroundings, perhaps as a response to some accidental long stays in interstellar space.
